How to Become a Real Estate Appraiser in New Mexico

New Mexico Apprentice Appraiser

Basic Requirements:To qualify for apprentice, license or certification as a real estate appraiser, you must (1) be at least 18 years of age,  (2) possess good character, and (3) pass the appropriate licensed or certification examination
Training Requirements: None
Education Requirements: 75 hours of qualifying education course
Fee: $200.00
State Required Test: Yes

New Mexico Licensed Appraiser

Basic Requirements:To qualify for apprentice, license or certification as a real estate appraiser, you must (1) be at least 18 years of age,  (2) possess good character, and (3) pass the appropriate licensed or certification examination
Training Requirements: 2,000 hours in no less than 12 months
Education Requirements: Associate’s degree or 30 college credit hours; 150 hours in qualifying education courses
Fee: $300.00
State Required Test: Yes

New Mexico Certified Residential Appraiser

Basic Requirements: To qualify for apprentice, license or certification as a real estate appraiser, you must (1) be at least 18 years of age,  (2) possess good character, and (3) pass the appropriate licensed or certification examination
Training Requirements: 2,500 hours of experience in no fewer than 24 months
Education Requirements: Must have a Bachelor’s degree or higher; 200 hours in qualifying education courses
Fee: $300.00
State Required Test: Yes

New Mexico Certified General Appraiser

Basic Requirements: To qualify for apprentice, license or certification as a real estate appraiser, you must (1) be at least 18 years of age,  (2) possess good character, and (3) pass the appropriate licensed or certification examination
Training Requirements: 3,000 hours of experience in no fewer than 30 months. 1,500 of these hours must be in non-residential experience
Education Requirements: Must have a Bachelor’s degree or higher; 300 hours in qualifying education courses
Fee: $400.00
State Required Test: Yes
