How to Become a Real Estate Appraiser in Oregon

In Oregon, the Appraiser Certification and Licensure Board handles real estate appraising applications.  An appraiser trainee is titled as a Registered Appraiser Assistant.  You must get this license to obtain the experience hours that qualify you to take the test for licensed, certified, and certified general licenses.

Oregon Registered Appraiser Assistant

Basic Requirements: Must be 18 years or older and submit a completed application
Training Requirements: Must have a supervising appraiser and register with the Board
Education Requirements: 75 hours of qualifying education courses; four hours of Board-approved Supervising Appraiser/Appraiser Assistant training course
Fee: $119.50
State Required Test: No

Oregon State Licensed Appraiser

Basic Requirements: Must be 18 years or older and submit a completed application
Training Requirements: 2,000 hours of experience in no fewer than 12 months
Education Requirements: Associate’s Degree or higher or 30 semester hours of college level courses from an accredited education institutions and 150 hours of qualifying education courses
Fee: $119.50
State Required Test: Yes

Oregon State Certified Residential Appraiser

Basic Requirements: Must be 18 years or older and submit a completed application
Training Requirements: 2,500 hours of experience in no fewer than 24 months
Education Requirements: Must hold a Bachelor’s degree or higher and 200 hours of qualifying education courses
Fee: $119.50
State Required Test: Yes

Oregon State Certified General Appraiser

Basic Requirements: Must be 18 years or older and submit a completed application
Training Requirements: 3,000 hours of experience (1,500 of these must be in non-residential experience) in no fewer than 30 months
Education Requirements: Must hold a Bachelor’s degree or higher and 300 hours of qualifying education courses
Fee: $119.50
State Required Test: Yes
