How to Become a Real Estate Appraiser in Utah

Utah Appraiser Trainee

Basic Requirements: Must be 18 years or older and submit a completed application
Training Requirements: You must have a Certified Residential Appraiser or General Appraiser who is licensed, active, has completed the Supervisory Appraiser and Appraiser Trainee Course, and is in good standing with the state of Utah to act as your supervisory appraiser
Education Requirements: 75 hours of qualifying education courses
Fee: $140.00
State Required Test: No

Utah Licensed Appraiser

Basic Requirements: Must be 18 years or older and submit a completed application
Training Requirements: 2,000 hours of experience within one to five years under the supervision of a Certified Appraiser
Education Requirements: 150 hours of qualifying education courses; must have an Associate’s degree or 30 semester hours of college-level education from an accredited institution
Fee: $350.00
State Required Test: Yes

Utah Certified Residential Appraiser

Basic Requirements: Must be 18 years or older and submit a completed application
Training Requirements: 2,500 hours of experience (1,250 hours must be based in residential experience) in no fewer than 24 months
Education Requirements: 200 hours of qualifying education courses; must have a Bachelor’s degree or higher from an accredited institution
Fee: $350.00
State Required Test: Yes

Utah Certified General Appraiser

Basic Requirements: Must be 18 years or older and submit a completed application
Training Requirements: 3000 hours of experience (1,500 hours must be based in non-residential experience) in no fewer than 30 months
Education Requirements: 300 hours of qualifying education; must have a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution
Fee: $350.00
State Required Test: Yes
